#AFRIMA2021: Stonebwoy Beats Shatta Wale To Win AFRIMA Reggae Dancehall Artist Of The Year

Stonebwoy has emerged winner of the  All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) Best Artist Duo/Group in African Reggae, Ragga Dancehall award 2021.

The African Union Commission (AUC) and the international committee of AFRIMA released the 2021 nominees list on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 with the list covering over 8,880 songs submitted for adjudication

With this conquest, Stonebwoy has now won the that category for the fourth time including a home win in 2018.

An indefinite ban was imposed by VGMA in 2019 as a result of a brawl caused by the two artists (Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale) during the Awards Ceremony of the 20th Anniversary edition of the VGMA, which disrupted the ceremony and threatened the safety of patrons. The two were thus excluded from participating in the 21st VGMA held in 2020.

The Board agreed to admit them back to the scheme, hoping that such altercations that bring the scheme into disrepute, do not occur in future events. This made them eligible to participate in this and subsequent editions of the VGMA.

But it didn’t restrict them from getting nominated for other awards schemes.
